Re: BEER |
Ummm, not trying to sound like a scotch snob, but Whyte and Mackay is a blended whisky.
That said it is a damn fine blend. I've had the 30 and The Thirteen, (how cool would it be if they had a vatting of The Eleven??) both very nice. Beats the snot out of Johnny Walker Blue any day.
I believe the 40 is out of their Rare and Prestigous collection from 1966. Double matured blend of 70% Dalmore and other Speysides.

Re: BEER |
Back to beer: For those who love IPA....you must try "Stone I.P.A" from the Stone Brewery in San Diego. Best I.P.A i've ever tasted.
They also make a stronger version called "Arrogant Bastard" but despite the cool name it's not as good.

Re: BEER |
Grendel - I'm with you.... Stone is great. I think they have some other "high end" beer that runs about $12-$14 a 6-pack, but I haven't been able to get myself to shell out that much. Let me know if you've tried it.

Re: BEER |
everything i have had from
STONE is really good... you live down that way? i can get stone and
ROGUE from portland -- they are the two most interesting microbrews i can get down at the packy on a regular basis....
russian river is the shit -- they also brew the
belgian style ales that of course are bottle conditioned and i have seen regularly at WHOLE FOODS.

Re: BEER |
i'm nowhere near san diego, but I was visiting there once & tried the Stone IPA at a tavern in La Jolla and was blown away. Their distribution is pretty far flung now & when it showed up recently at a local liquor store here in VT I was thrilled. It is pretty expensive though, so I stay away from the 'specialty' brews they put out.
I'm totally happy w.their IPA
